AWANA is a fast-paced, fun,
and Bible-concentrated program. Young people will learn
the essentials of the Christian faith, memorize Scripture, and
have a blast doing it.
Awana meets Sunday nights from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. We had a great 2009-2010 year and we will look forward to resuming AWANA in September.
There are Awana groups for kids from 3 years old through 6th grade. You can start at ANY time and don't need any "church" background to begin. Each evening includes Bible time, games, songs, and a brief devotional time. Club members earn awards through their Bible memories and earn Awana bucks to be able to purchase prizes. If you would like to know more about Awana contact Rick or this year's Commander, Pastor Bruce.

Would you be interested in changing children's lives? We are always looking for volunteers to help with the AWANA program. AWANA doesn't work unless we have devoted volunteers who believe in this ministry. You don't need any special skills to help, you just need a willingness to learn and to serve. If you'd like more information about how you can help with AWANA (there's lots of different jobs), then send an e-mail to Rick and he would be happy to give you that information. We hope you'll join us this fall!
What is AWANA?
AWANA is an acronym meaning Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. The saying comes from the Bible, in 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA is a club (similar to Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts) that focuses on teaching children about God. Each week, there are three
parts to AWANA--game time, book time, and council time. During
game time, the kids play games that help to reinforce the
Biblical truths they are learning. Book time is the time when
the kids work on memorizing verses and learning about the Bible.
Each week council time is a little different--a different
speaker or group comes in to teach about some aspect of
Christian life. There are three levels for AWANA, based on age.
Cubbies
Cubbies is a group for
children 2 years prior to
starting Kindergarten (usually 3 or 4 years old) until they begin Kindergarten. This is a great
way to "get your child started". Cubbie leaders are Michele Powell and Valerie Butler.

Sparks is the youth Club for
children Kindergarten-2nd grade. Sparks is led by Kelly Lafferty and Stacia Thompson

Truth and Training is for children in
3rd grade through 6th Grade. Truth and Training is led by Cindy Anders and Karen Moore.
Awana also depends on a number of volunteers who serve as listeners for club members. Each AWANA meeting also has a game time led by Scott Thompson.
