Sunday School

We believe one hour in worship a week is not enough to prepare us for an entire week of working and living in the world. Our "second hour", Sunday School is designed to help children and adults to interact with their faith. It is a time for equipping the saints for the pressures of the world.

The Sunday School program has classes for every age, from newborn to not-so-newborn. Sunday School classes meet on Sunday mornings between our 8:00 and 10:30 worship services (the classes start at around 9:15). Below is a list of classes, separated by age group, and what each class is currently studying. We believe that Sunday School is a great way to interact with the Bible in a small group setting. You are welcome (and frankly, encouraged) to join any class at any time--all of the classes are set up so that you won't be lost if you join in the middle of a study.

Sunday School Classes

We have classes for every age group, and this year our younger classes are going to be using curriculum that is activity-based. Each week will in many ways feel like a string of games, but the games will all be focused around a central message. The kids will still learn about the Bible and how to live to please God, but it won't feel as much like school. We hope you and your children will join us for this important time of enrichment. Below is a listing of each class, what age groups are served by that class, who the teacher is, and where the class is located. If you ever have questions about our Sunday School program, don't hesitate to talk to Rick.

Sunday School Nursery (newborns to about 3 yrs)--a rotating group of parents cares for the children in this class--meets in the nursery on the top floor

Pre-K and K(1-2 years before Kindergarten through Kindergarten)--taught by Michele Powell and Alison DeSotel--meets in the classroom on the top floor

1st and 2nd Grade--taught by Michael and Rachel Rutan--meets in the classroom in the front (east end) of the sanctuary (past the windows)

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade--taught by Cindy Pollock--meets in the corner classroom of the sanctuary.

Jr. High (6th, 7th, and 8th grades)--taught by Jeni Richardson--meets in the northeast corner of the basement.

Sr. High--taught by Rick--meets in the classroom at the east end of the basement

Two Adult classes (for all adults)

Adult 1 (Bible Basics)--taught by Bruce--focuses on answering the questions for which we are called to give an answer. It is a very discussion-oriented class, designed to equip people to understand and share their faith. They meet in the room just off the kitchen in the basement (you have to pass through the kitchen to get to the room).

Adult 2--taught by Cindy Irish--is currently doing a study on the attributes of Jesus called, I AM. They meet in the southwest corner of the basement (just past the bookcases after you come down the stairs).

If you have any questions about the Sunday School program, you can contact us via e-mail or talk to Bruce or Rick at church on Sunday morning.
